The Kansas City Boys Choir and the Kansas City Girls Choir will honor the choirs’ high school graduates during The Rev. Donald Gilmore Annual Scholarship Affair at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Grand Street Ballroom, 4740 Grand Avenue.
The theme for this year’s luncheon is “Extraordinary Young People Inspired to do Extraordinary Things.” As in years past, 100 percent of the choirs’ high school senior graduated this year and will be attending college or other post-secondary education programs.
Kansas City Boys and Girls Choirs offers scholarships to those graduates who are attending post-secondary education programs in the fall.
Lajuana M. Counts will offer the keynote address. Counts served as an assistant U.S. Attorney for 25 years, and has been named U.S. Magistrate Judge of the Western District of Missouri.
